group facetime · streamed · in sync
Everyone’s camera,
on the same clock.
A group FaceTime, turned into one thing you can watch: a synced grid, a broadcast for people in a browser, or a watch party where the video and the faces line up.
No app. You answer a FaceTime call. People without an iPhone join from a browser.
three ways to be together
01
Grid
Everyone’s FaceTime camera, in one synced grid. Or pick one person and watch just them.
- The host starts a group and invites people by number. Each person gets a FaceTime call from the together line and answers it.
- Every camera lands in one room on our side, on one clock. The grid you see is built from all of them at once.
- Anyone watching can switch from the grid to a single camera, and back.
On FaceTime you see the grid as the other side of your call. You can’t tap a tile in FaceTime itself; that picker is on the web.
02
Broadcast
Your group’s call, streamed out to people in a browser. A few of them can come up on camera.
- The group is on FaceTime as above. The host flips it to broadcast after everyone on camera says yes.
- Viewers open a link and watch the grid a few seconds behind live. No account to watch.
- The host can invite a handful of viewers up. They join from the browser with camera and mic, in real time.
Watching is a few seconds behind; being on camera is live. Bringing someone on stage is a host decision, never automatic.
03
Watch party
Everyone watches the same video at the same moment, with each other’s cameras alongside.
- The host picks something they have the right to show, or a video from a provider’s own embeddable player.
- In a browser it plays on your screen, kept in step with everyone else. Pause pauses for all.
- On FaceTime the video is drawn into what your call shows you, next to the other cameras.
FaceTime can’t play a video inside a call. FaceTime folks see it as part of the call picture: lower quality, a beat behind, and only for content we’re allowed to re-encode.
Nothing streams or records unless everyone on camera says yes. Rules.
